Join us in the Great Hall at the Fleming College Haliburton School of Art and Design for a FREE Art Talk! Jessica Steinhäuser is an award–winning Canadian ceramic artist who works on a grand scale, breathing new life into the ancient tradition of building kachelöfen. Kachelöfen are massive clay stoves that burn wood efficiently and cleanly. For Jessica, they are akin to giant blank canvases that she turns into stunning contemporary art installations that warm both body and soul. For over 15 years Jessica has been making and designing kachelöfens, introducing them to North America. In this talk, Jessica will share her journey from German immigrant selling her mugs to internationally recognized artist.
